Spring Break

Monday, March 30, 2009

Although spring break has come and gone, we had so much fun I wanted to post about some of the things we did. Maci had a few friends over one night for a "Pajama Party." It was complete with pizza, makeup, fingernail painting, rootbeer floats, popcorn and a movie....everything, but the sleeping over part. She's still too young for that. .We also went to the Dallas Zoo with Kaity, Charlie, and Grace. We decided to brave the crowds and were pretty lucky because the weather was great and it wasn't too crowded. The first exhibit we went to was the children's zoo where there is a water area for children to play in. I didn't think that it would be open already, but it was, and we didn't bring swimsuits with us. There were other children with their shoes off and pants rolled up playing in the water, so we decided to let the kids give it a try. We should have known ours would be the ones getting totally drenched in their clothes. In the end, I think the wet clothes kept them pretty cool for the rest of the zoo. I didn't take many pictures, but we had lots of fun!

Feeding the Ducks

For Family Home Evening a few weeks ago we went to feed the ducks at a small lake thing (it's on a golf course) by our house. It was the easiest FHE and one of our children's favorites! We'll be doing this again soon! After we had been feeding the ducks for awhile this huge turkey/duck thing came out of nowhere. It was huge and freaked out Maci. Bryce was pretty fascinated by the thing and we kept yelling at him to stay back....mostly because we weren't sure exactly what it even was! With Bryce throwing whole pieces of bread into the water we'll need to make sure and bring an extra loaf of bread next time.

Body Art

Bryce looks up to his older cousin Charlie. Today Charlie came home from preschool with green glasses painted on his face for St. Patricks Day. Bryce clearly thought this was pretty cool and really wanted some glasses on his face too. So, he decided to do it himself. A while later he emerged from the playroom with a big smile on his face looking proud of the work that he had done. This is Bryce's attempt to be just like Charlie.

Grocery Shopping

Thursday, March 05, 2009

Grocery shopping has taken a new turn for us lately. I've started going with both kids and letting them each push a little shopping cart. It's a little stressful for me making sure Bryce doesn't run into anyone or anything (i.e. anything breakable), but the kids are actually pretty good. Maci is actually pretty serious. When we stop in front of something we need to put into the cart I can see her surveying everything else around and she'll always make sure there's nothing else we're forgetting or that we need. When Bryce is pushing a shopping carts he loves to look down at his feet and take off sprinting (which is usually into the back of Maci), but I found a solution. I just put all of the heavy stuff (gallons of milk) in his cart to weigh it down. Then it is much harder for him to do. Yesterday, once I put 4 gallons of milk into his cart, he didn't try running anymore. I have to admit, and I definitely never thought I would, I don't loathe grocery shopping like I used to! Now I just dislike it!

More Pictures.......Valentine's Day consisted of crepes with strawberry ice cream for breakfast. And, after all of my hard work making the crepes, nobody ate them. In fact, the kids barely touched their ice cream. They just wanted the candy I had gotten them.
