What is it with my kids and MUD!!

Yesterday Maci and Bryce were playing in the backyard for most of the afternoon. At one point Maci came into the house and told me she needed some water so she could plant a flower. I told her to get some out of the bathroom sink. I'm not sure how much later this was, but this is how we found them. I think Bryce talked Maci into making another mud bath for him (If you don't know what I am talking about read the previous post).

Mud Bath
Bryce found a giant mud puddle at Joey's softball game a few nights ago. Evidently, he was "bathing" in it. I wouldn't know because my friend Cristie found him, along with her son Collin, rolling around like a couple of pigs in mud. Thank goodness she thought to go check on them when she did, because I am afraid of how they would have looked if they'd had just a few more minutes in the mud. Cristie was able to hose Collin off since he wasn't wearing shoes or socks. Bryce was wearing brand NEW shoes and there was at least an inch of mud around them and his NEW Cowboys jersey, so we left early. This reminds me that they are still in the garage and I should try cleaning them now.
Notice the proud faces on both of these little boys.
American Girl
Tuesday, October 07, 2008
Maci and I had a girls day out with our good friends Megan and Elise this past Saturday. We met them at the American Girl Store and Bistro in Dallas. Maci and Elise dressed up in a fancy dress and got to bring their favorite doll (or in Maci's case Emma the cat) to dine with them. Lunch was fun and the girls loved that their dolls got their own highchair (and menu)at the table next to them.
After lunch we spent some time browsing the huge two-story store full of the American Girl dolls and their way too cute clothing and accessories. Megan and I were wishing we were little girls all over again.
The whole time we were there Maci had tons of fun looking at dolls and running around with Elise. She never once asked for one or even mentioned it. Then, on the way home I asked her if she had fun and she said "No" and started crying. When I asked her what was wrong and why she didn't have fun she told me it was because she didn't get a doll.
I'm pretty sure the crying was mostly due to her being tired because she was asleep in the car about 3 minutes later. We will definitely be going back soon.
Maci Chica
Saturday, October 04, 2008
"Chica" has been Maci's nickname since she was pretty little. She is the best Chica in the whole wide world. I am pretty sure that Maci could run things around here if something ever happened to me. She is growing up before our eyes. The other day when I picked her up from preschool her teacher told me something that gave me hope that we are doing something right with her. She told me that during class they were playing a game and that another student was having a hard time and didn't know what to do (not sure what the game was). So, Maci (all on her own) stepped up to help her friend. It may not sound like a big deal, but to her teacher it was and to me it was. We are so proud of and grateful for our Little Chica.
