Healthy Bodies

Friday, June 27, 2008

Maci had a primary activity about a month ago. I just came across thes pictures and wanted to post some. Maci had so much fun and thought she was such big stuff zooming around with the all of the "big" kids. During the activity they talked about taking care of their bodies by exercising and eating healthy. One of the leaders was asking the children questions about good things to eat and Maci raised her hands a couple of times and answered, "water" and "fruit and vegetables." (I know....she is so smart! ) Then a few minutes later they were talking about things that aren't good for their bodies. Again Maci raised her hand and this was her comment, "My daddy drinks lots of soda everyday." And then the teacher replied, "Is that good for your body?" And Maci responded with a big "NO!" It looks like Joey needs to learn a thing or two about keeping himself healthy. I'm sure Maci will be glad to teach him!

HAWAII (vacation: part 2)

Friday, June 20, 2008

So, after we spent a couple of days in L.A. with Joey's parents and taking the kiddos to Disneyland (previous post) we took off to Hawaii. First of all....... a big thanks to Grandma Robin and Grandpa Joe for watching our twosome so we could go lay on the beach and do nothing. Now, back to Hawaii! It was both Joey's and my first time to there. We LOVED it more than words can say. We stayed at a resort called the Mauna Lani. We spent most of the time relaxing in cabanas on the beach ordering diet cokes and these yummy pulled pork sandwiches. We also snorkeled a few times, once on a booze cruise (also called a catamaran) about an hour from our resort and the other times just at the resort, hiked for like 3 hours along the coast one day, and then Joey golfed basically EVERYDAY we were there when I got just ONE spa day. Okay, so I could have had more, but laying CHILDLESS on the beach was good enough for me! The best thing about this trip was that it was FREE! Joey made the President's Gold Circle which is what got us the trip. On the second to last night we were there there was a great luau. The first fun thing about the luau was learning that the lead singer for the Hawaiian band was from the movie 30 First Dates with Drew Barrymore. He was the "Spam Guy," (although I don't remember why). Then during the entertainment when the hula dancers and warrior dancers (is that what they're called) performed they came out into the audience a couple of times looking for people to come up on stage with them. Well, as luck would have it, Joey and I got pulled up there both times. I am proud to say that my hula dancing received rave reviews, even from the CEO of the company. Joey, on the other hand, is not as skilled in that area.

Disneyland!!!!

"The Happiest Place on Earth" was exactly that when we took Maci there for the first time about two weeks ago. We lucked out and the weather was absolutely perfect, however, that also meant it was a little bit more crowded than we would have liked. I definitely prefer standing in line for a ride 10 extra minutes than dripping sweat and worrying about sunburns though. I even ran into one of my best friends from high school Stacey Crewse.

Grandma Robin and Grandpa Joe (Joey's parents) came with us to share in the fun (afterall, it had been a whole month since Robin had been there last)! We also learned something new about Maci......she LOVES ROLLERCOASTERS!!

Preschool Graduation

Sunday, June 01, 2008

Most of you know I teach preschool out of my house and last week we had our preschool graduation. It turned out pretty well considering we had 16 students "graduate" (2classes X 8 students each ) plus siblings, parents, and grandparents, in my back yard.

This is how our family GETS DOWN!!

Okay, so this video is probably not that funny, just hopefully a little embarrassing for Joey!
