100th Day of School
For Maci's 100th day of school project we made a giant heart shaped sugar cookie and put 100 M &M's on it. Her friend Colette painted beans and glued them to a canvas.
Christmas
For Christmas Eve Kaity and Andy came over with the kiddos along with the Abbott family. We ate pork tamales, chimichangas, beans and rice, and chips with homemade salsas. It was all homemade (except for the chips) and all DELICIOSO! As a family we have only spent the last few years at home for Christmas, and so we don't yet have any of our own holiday traditions. I decided that I loved this dinner so much that this is the beginning of a new tradition....as long as I am hosting Christmas at my house. The children also opened new p.j.s, used our nativity hand puppets to act out the nativity, sang christmas carols by candle light, decorated cookies for Santa, and of course tracked him online all night long. We also had a random snowstorm on Christmas Eve which resulted in a white Christmas for us the next morning. It was so much fun! Growing up in Arizona (and even living in Texas now) I never would have thought I would ever have a white Christmas. Also, somehow Aubree didn't make it into any of our pictures. She turned 3 months old on Christmas day and got a whopping 1 present under the tree as well! watching our new video ipods, laying in our new sleeping bags, inside Maci's new tent. Doesn't get much better. Our white Christmas. Not the best picture, but oh well. Our house looks so bare in front!
Birthday Boy
Bryce turned 3 years old and had his very first friends birthday party. We went all out.....okay, not really, but it still turned out great. If you know Bryce he is just like every other 3 year old boy and is obsessed with the movie Cars. So, of course that was the theme for his party. We went "tractor tipping", threw bean bags through a tire, played playdoh, and just played with toy cars. It was every little boys dream and Bryce couldn't have been happier!
Birthday Girl - Maci is 6!!
It is that time of year again! No, not Christmas.......Birthdays! Both Maci and Bryce's birthdays are this month (the 13th and 15th). Maci's birthday is tomorrow, but we had her party last week. She wanted a makeup/dress up party and so that is what she got. I read a cute idea online for dress up parties that suggested getting real jewelry from thrift stores. So, I hit a couple of them and bought purses, rings, clip on earrings, bracelets, watches, necklaces, lip gloss, and nail polish for all of the girls. Don't worry the lip gloss and nail polish were from Target! Let me tell you, it was a bit hit! They also got their nails done (with press on fingernails) and made their own glitter make up. Then it was dress up, dancing, and singing the rest of the night! She was also spoiled by her Grandma's. She got the cute outfit she is wearing in the picture below from Grandma Brenda. The new bedding is from both Grandma Robin and also Mommy and Daddy. I'm not sure if all of the pink and bling scream "Princess" or "Diva!"
Aubree's Baby Blessing
We had all of The Zollinger family in town for Thanksgiving and thought it was the perfect time to have Aubree's baby blessing. I can't believe I didn't get any pictures. I feel like I say that way too often on this blog. I need to be better at taking pictures of my kids. Here are the only two pictures I took of her that day. And she is crying in one of them!
Maci's first month of kindergarten
I realize Christmas is almost here, but I still want to post some of these pictures I took at different times during Maci's first month of Kindergarten. She participated in Fun Run Boosterthon. I did attempt to take some pictures of her in action, but since she was running they turned out blurry (duh)! Luckily I snagged a few with some of her friends. We also have been to a few of her school assemblies. They have one every Friday and anyone is welcome. For the first 2 months of school the kindergarten classes all sang a song together at these assemblies. The songs were about whatever color they were practicing that week and they were supposed to wear the color to the assembly. Here are her yellow and green clothes. We also went along on her first field trip that was supposed to be to a pumpkin patch. However, it was raining that day and so they didn't get to play at the pumpkin patch. They did get to do a bunch of activities inside the church where the pumpkin patch was at. We have also been able to eat lunch with Maci a handful of times. Bryce loves this because he buys a lunch alongside Maci. He gets to stand in line with her and choose what he wants to eat. I just LOVE that Maci LOVES school!!!!
Halloween
We had friends over on Halloween night for dinner and then to go trick or treating. Time flew by and before we knew it, it was time to go trick or treating. I went to take a picture of the kids all together and realized I hadn't done Maci's hair, makeup, etc. to complete her costume. Well, half of our trick or treating group was already out the front door waiting there was no way Maci was going to wait to have her hair done. I was certainly glad I didn't have to worry about washing the makeup off of her face and hairspray out of her hair at the end of the night. Spiderman, BYU cheerleader and a Barbie Rock Star
